BMW Service Info:

Here at AMP we are one of the few Service Shops in AZ that specialize in BMW Service, Repair, and OEM Parts.  Why pay dealer prices when you can get quality work and the same OEM Parts for your motorcycle at a fraction of the cost with quality results.

All of AMP’s Technicians have been factory trained by BMW.  If you decide to trust us with your impeccable driving machine, be sure you are in good hands.  All regular maintenance and services receive an OEM BMW checklist direct from the RSD (BMW Service Manual).  Each of our tech’s meticulously hit every point on the checklist and sign off at the end.   If you have little faith just ask us when checking out for a certified copy for your records or for just piece of mind.

We often come across issues technicians at dealers never see on bikes just out of the 3 year manufacturer’s warranty.  We can solve and fix these issues for far less money and far better results.  Our goal is to never see you again for the same issue.  Our team members want to fix your issue properly the first time.   We put extra time into trying to “FIX” the issues rather than just “REPLACE” or “MASK” it.  If you have a recall or warranty question please feel free to ask as we stay up to date on many things going on in the BMW motorcycle world!

BMW Service:

All BMW motorcycle owners know what amazing machines they are.  Longevity out of a BMW motorcycle is not foreign to those of us who have any history with them.  Staying up to date with regular services is a vital part to keeping your bike running at its peak.  This will also prolong and prevent those very expensive and intrusive repairs.   BMW’s do not only have a mileage based service interval but are time based as well.   Annual Services and Inspections play a vital role to those owners who put minimal mileage on their bikes every year.

BASIC SERVICE INTERVAL REFERENCE:

ALL BMW’S:

*We always modify services based on mileage and what has been or not been done by others.  This is just a reference.Brake Bleed: Initially after the 1st year then every 2 years. This Includes Hydraulic Clutch Systems that utilize DOT 4 Brake Fluid.  Usually found in older models.

*If you have a “Servo Assist Braking System”(brakes make whining noise when key is on).  Please do not bleed like a normal braking system.  You will cause failure to your $1500 ABS Pump.  There is a specific sequence for bleeding these systems.  If it gets done wrong it does take longer to fix and bleed correctly!

All Components checked, lubes, etc for every service we complete.  We want to make sure you rid away happy and most of all safe!

Frequently Asked Questions

Well I heard BMW Motorcycles have a very complicated CANBUS electronic system, are you able to perform electrical diagnosis and hook my bike up to the computer?

Yes, we couldn’t claim to be a great BMW Service Shop without the means to work on all aspects of your bike.  We have the capabilities to reset service indicators, read codes, perform all diagnosis functions, and much much more.  We can perform most of what all dealers can.  This includes all the newest models of BMW Motorcycles.

I just bought a brand new bike from the dealer, can AMP Moto Works perform my First Service? Will it void my manufactures warranty?

We love to get our hands on brand new bikes.  We use all OEM(original equipment manufacturer) BMW Parts.  This means there will be no questions if any warranty/recall issues arise.  NO this will NOT void any type of manufactures warranty on your bike.  This is a common misconception and is actually illegal for a dealer to tell you otherwise (by federal law).   It is true we cannot perform any OEM Manufacture Warranty/Recall work.  To get this done for free you must seek a dealer.  To better explain:

Warranty and Recall repairs get filed directly through the manufacture.  Meaning the dealer files a claim to BMW and they will make a decision whether or not to approve the repairs.  Once approved, the work is completed and your bike is returned to you.  The manufacture then pays the Dealer for their work.  So it is free to you the customer but the dealer and employees get paid.  We can easily complete all of the same work but cannot file claims through the manufacture so we have to charge for the parts and labor.  Although we cannot perform these important repairs, we can help with any questions or take care of the leg work for you.  We work very closely with a BMW dealer in town and can make it very easy for you.

So I also own a Ducati and an Aprilia, can AMP Moto Works perform repair and service work on all my bikes?

The answer is yes we can.  It is not our main stream customer base, but general service and repairs we do all in house and have access to all OEM parts and repair literature.  If we come across anything we feel is over our heads we will be honest and straight forward with you.  We work very closely with other independent shops in town that specialize in certain European Bikes.  So even if you come to us with something we have not seen, the job will still get done correctly by other professionals that we trust as well.  We will always make sure that you want to return to AMP Moto Works even if we didn’t complete a particular job for you!

So can you guys complete Insurance or aftermarket warranty work?

Yes of Course!  We work with all Insurance and Aftermarket Warranty companies.  We can contact the claims departments and take care of all of the paperwork and repairs for you.  All we need from you is a bike and some info.  Then you just relax, sit back, and wait for the repaired bike or check.  If you need a tow from an accident we are available 24/7.  Keep us on SpeedDial!

If I have my own parts can I bring them to you for install or for my service?

Yes, we allow our customers to bring in their own parts. If you have them we will install or try to utilize them.  Keep in mind that this is what we do every single day.  We know the parts, what you need, and how to get them.  About half the time customers supply parts we run into other issues that cause us to have to bill you more labor time.  We do not warranty parts we do not sell to you.  Most times it is far easier to let us complete the work start to finish, but if you have any questions just feel free to ask.

If I am seeking a part but you do not have it in stock, how long will it generally take for it to arrive at your shop?

We get about 55% of our BMW parts 1-2 days.  About 40% we can get in the same time frame but with an extra expedited charge based on the value of the part, or these same parts generally take 3-5 days with regular shipping.  The last 5% is Special Order parts that are generally only available in Germany, and unfortunately could be 1 week up to 2 months to get depending on availability.  But that is a rare occasion.  Just call to inquiry about any part you need!

Can you get OEM or aftermarket parts for my other bikes?

Yes we can.  If you inquiry us about it we will help you find it.  We supply all of the major manufactures parts but stock far less of them.  Call for more info.

I see you change the Gearbox oil every 12K miles, isn’t it supposed to be every 24K?

BMW recommends every 24K for the Gearbox.  12K, 18K, or 24K on the Pinion Drive (Rear Drive) oil depending on the model.  We have found that the oil starts to break down around the 12K interval and have decided to flush the Gearbox and Pinion Drive every 12K.  We want to prolong the life of your internal components.  We have found that they last much longer without needing those larger repairs when they are serviced at our interval.  If you would like you can request otherwise, but this is what we do.

Do I need to make an appointment or can I just stroll in?

If you are looking for a same day appointment more than just an oil or tire change you must make an appointment.  If you are looking to drop a bike off for service or repairs we prefer you give us a call, but you can drop off whenever.  Just keep in mind that it is easier and faster to work your bike into our schedule if you call a few days prior for larger work.

I have an appointment setup for a service, should I show up early? Will it help you guys out to get me done faster?

We prefer that you show up right at your scheduled time.  Keep in mind we are a small shop with just a few team members.  If you have a 4 hour Service scheduled, then plan on being at our shop for about 6 hours.  We have to take phone calls, attend to other customers, and deal with other issues throughout the day as well.  We work diligently to get you in and out, but we work for quality and not quantity.

I want to drop my bike off for work but I do not have a ride home, can you pick up my bike for me?

Yes we can pick up and deliver your bike from your home, work, or similar.  We charge a $45 pickup charge per bike for work to be completed.  If we bill out 2 or more hours of service work on your bike then we eliminate the pickup charges.  Fuel charges may still apply if you live more than 15 round trip miles from us.  We use a fully enclosed trailer to pick up all bikes.  AMP Moto Works fully insures your bike from the moment we touch your motorcycle to the moment it is back in your possession.

I heard the BMW dry clutches on K and R bikes are very hard and expensive to replace. Can AMP Moto Works complete this work for me?

YES, YES, and YES.  This is the type of work we excel at here at AMP.  We have been into many of these bikes for this type of work and know exactly what parts we need and how to complete the job correctly.   And yes, both K and R bikes have to more or less be split in half to complete this work and it does take some time.  There are a lot of components we must tear apart but we assure you they all go back together.   We usually save our customers hundreds from what all the dealers charge.

Are you guys honest and awesome?

We strive to be exactly that every damn day!  We try and serve our customers better than they have ever been treated in the motorcycle community.  If you have an issue please bring it to our attention!
